We give a new understanding of “repentance” not about being guilty for something but it is something more than that. Episode 27: Incarnate Love ft. Cody Rollins

In this episode we have the honorable guest of Cody Rollins. Cody is the worship director for Connection and he speaks to us right after Valentine’s Day about love. Cody puts some flesh and blood on what “love” is and how God is love for us. There is one line in there that really spoke to me when Cody talks about Jesus being love and in the form of Christ “the abstract becomes tangible.” I loved that line and making the universal of love a particular in Christ has been sitting with me this week. He also has a brief part of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s last Christmas Sermon.

Episode 26: Classic Stories Reimagined Part 5- The Beatitudes ft. Paula “the pure one” Coker Jones

We continue out series on Classic Stories Reimagined with the Beatitudes. Our guest preacher/speaker on this episode is Paula “the pure one” Coker Jones and she does an amazing job with pulling apart the beatitudes from Jesus’ sermon on the mount.  She talks about each one separately and then pulls them together by saying we are given life by embodying these sayings.

 

Episode 23: Going Through the Motions Ft. Tyler Blalock

In this Episode, we have the one and only Tyler Blalock speak to us. Tyler is a senior at Bartram Trail High School (not an old man though) and has just an incredible mind and heart. Tyler talks to us about how to get out of the cycle of your normal everyday things and what that means in your journey of faith. He gives us 4 practical ways we can stop just going through the motions.

Episode 21: Classic Stories Reimagined Part 1- What is your Egypt?

We are starting a new series titled Classic Stories Reimagined. We will be going through well known stories in the bible like Jonah and The Prodigal Son and having a conversation around new ideas, interpretations, and understandings of these old texts. This week we talk about the Exodus Story, particularly what happens after the Israelites are freed from Egypt.

 

The Christmas Message

I know we are already a week into the new year, but I thought this message was too good not to share a little late. In this special episode, what I try to do is give you a new understanding of the Christmas night, what it was like in first century and how Mary might have delivered baby Jesus, and how that would impact how we understand Christmas night.

Episode 17: Thanksgiving ft. Brooke Lawrence

This episode we have a guest speaker named Brooke Lawrence who gives us a unique take on how we understand thanksgiving. Brooke is a wise, intellectual human that helps us see the mystery of the Christ within everything, including thanksgiving. She also gives us some practical ways that we can can better interact with family and friends during this thanksgiving.

This week we continue our series titled #Blessed. In this episode, we talk about 5 things we can spend our money on other than giving. We hear a powerful story from Hollie about how she was impacted by the church, and then I share personally why I give.

Episode 10: Philippians (Part 4) “A Fourth Grader and a Ball Pit”

This week we finish our series about the book in the Bible called “Philippians.” In this one, we talk about how Paul re-frames worry, contentment and arguments. We take a concluding look at what Paul has re-framed for us in the entire book. We end with how this makes a difference with a story about a fourth grader in a ball pit.

Episode 8: Philippians (Part 2) Paul, The Matrix, and Paula Coker Jones

This week we continue our series about the book in the Bible called “Philippians”. In this one, we have a guest speaker, Paula Coker Jones. She is the youth director at Mandarin United Methodist Church.
